40% OF RIDERS ARE WEARING AN UNSAFE HELMET - DON'T LET THIS BE ONE OF YOU
In the month of August we will be offering complimentary helmet checks in our Bridgwater and Bristol stores.
A helmet can look shiny and new, but if it’s 3-5 years old or has suffered a single impact, it’s ready for retirement.
Although it’s fairly common knowledge that impacts from dropping and knocking a helmet can reduce its performance. You may not be aware that even if it isn’t used at all, degradation in the glues and resins used in production will reduce its ability to protect during an impact.
Helmet manufacturers and independent safety experts, like SHARP (the government-funded Safety Helmet Assessment and Rating Programme), advise replacing a motorcycle helmet after three years of regular use, and every five years as a matter of course.
For your complimentary helmet check just drop into Riders of Bridgwater or Bristol where Beth or Sarah will check over your existing lid and provide advice if you feel it's time to renew.
